Message from the Chairman
My name is Shintaro Fukuda, I assumed office as the Chairman the alumni association on April 1, 2023. I graduated from the faculty of Medicine in 1979.
Thank you for visiting and utilizing the Yamaguchi University Alumni Association website. This website delivers the latest news, general meeting information and reports, and various event information from the alumni associations of each faculty.
We send out interesting and fresh information every day, such as the activities of our alumni and the extracurricular activities of students. We hope that all members will be able to access not only the Yamaguchi University Alumni Association website, but also the alumni associations of each faculty, and use it effectively.
It is becoming difficult for alumni associations of each faculty to reach out to young members, due to protection of personal information policies.
Most of our member are at the age that have job-transfers and changes jobs a lot, but I would like to encourage everyone to keep in touch with the alumni association office about your latest situation and not to forget interacting with your close generation alumni members and the connection with your supervisors and mentors.
Starting this year, the university provides a lifelong email address to each graduate, making it easier to receive messages and communications from their alma mater. It is expected to be used in various ways, such as a mailing list among alumni.
We will make our best effort to keep the alumni association to be attractive to the younger generation graduates. We hope that you will utilize this website not only for communicating with your alma mater, but also as a tool for building your own network and collecting a wide range of information.
I belonged to the university’s rugby club when I was in the liberal arts course. I also founded the new rugby club when I was in the specialized course of the medical school and ran around the fields of the Yoshida, Tokiwa, and Ogushi campuses. During that club activities, I was able to make a lot of good friends across multiple faculties and continue to interact with them till today.
Each campus has been newly built, expanded and renovated, and the scenery has changed considerably, but the beautiful five-storied pagoda of Rurikoji Temple, the row of cherry blossom trees along the Ichinosaka River, and Mt. Himeyama overlooking the Yoshida campus have not changed.
Please visit Yamaguchi and take a walk around your alma mater and compare it with your memories of your school days.
I would like to ask all of our members for your continuous cooperation toward the activities of the Yamaguchi University Alumni Association.

Message from the President of the university
I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to the members of the Yamaguchi University Alumni Association. Thank you for your continued support of Yamaguchi University.
I am a graduate of Yamaguchi University and entered the medical school in 1977. At that time, there was a two-year liberal arts department program. I can vividly remember going to school while listening to frogs and chasing fireflies at the Yoshida Campus, which was surrounded by fields.
For the past three years, the COVID-19 pandemic restricted students’ life, and I especially felt sorry for them for not being able to do enough extracurricular activities. The number of patients of COVID-19 is expected to fluctuate for a while, but student life is regaining its post-corona calmness.
We encourage this year’s graduates to send graduation report postcards to their high schools. I hope that the students will take this opportunity to rediscover the bond they had with their former school and teachers.
I also hope that in the future, graduates will remember their student life at Yamaguchi University and visit their alma mater and teachers.
Not to be mentioned, the alumni associations are the best supporters of our university. We hope that you will deepen your bonding with the university through this website, the websites of each faculty alumni association, and events such as Homecoming Day. We also hope that the university will provide such opportunities.
The Yamaguchi University Report, which is updated every year, introduces the person of the year and activities of the university that year.
